Six Florida residents were arrested in connection to a kidnapping and assault in Danbury, according to the town's police department.

Angel Borrero, 23, Reynaldo Diaz, 22, Anthony Pena, 23, Josue Romero, 26, Ricardo Estrada, 21, and Michael Rivas, 18, are facing charges including first-degree assault, first-degree kidnapping, and reckless endangerment, police said.

At 5:40 p.m. Sunday, officers went to Clapboard Ridge Road near Dogwood Lane for a report of a disturbance, police said. A witness told them that they had spotted three men who "exited a van, began assaulting another man, pushed him into the van, and fled."

Police said the suspect's vehicle was spotted on Clapboard Ridge Road and sped away from officers who attempted to stop it. It was later located nearby on Cowperthwaite Street.

Officers found two people inside the van who had been bound with duct tape, police said. One had allegedly been assaulted with a baseball bat.

Both victims were taken to the hospital with injuries that appeared to be non-life-threatening, according to police.

According to police, patrol officers began searching the area after witnesses told them that the suspects had left Cowperthwaite Street on foot.

Three officers had non-life-threatening injuries as they searched and apprehended four of the suspects, police said. Two suspects were later found and arrested at a short-term rental home in Roxbury.

The victims appear to have been targeted, according to police, but the motive for the attack remains under investigation. Police ask anyone with information to contact Danbury detectives at 203-797-4662 or their anonymous tip line at 203-790-TIPS (8477).
