BETHEL, Connecticut — A Bethel High School sports coach has left their position after accusations of predatory and grooming behavior according to officials.
Bethel's High School administration received a report about the assistant coach for one of its sports teams before the Thanksgiving holiday.
The employee was not in the school daily and is no longer employed at the school.
“We immediately contacted the Department of Children and Families and the Bethel Police Department to make a mandated report and put the person on unpaid leave,” said school officials in a statement. “We also notified those students and families who had contact with the individual.
The Department of Children and Families said in a statement, “We can confirm that DCF is investigating this matter in partnership with the Bethel Police Department after a report was received, from the school, on 11/8/23.”
The administration has partnered with the Center for Empowerment to hold assemblies for each grade level in January and February to address the warning signs of predatory and grooming behavior.
