TRUMBULL, Conn. — An attempt to merge onto the highway ended in a fatal crash on Route 8 South on Wednesday evening, according to state police.

The 5-year-old Jeep passenger and the Toyota driver were both injured and were taken to the hospital for evaluation.
The area was temporarily closed and traffic was rerouted; the area has since reopened.
State police continue to investigate this crash. Anyone who saw this crash or has dashcam footage is asked to call Trooper Aidan Quaglino at 203-696-2500 or send an email to aidan.quaglino@ct.gov.
