Troopers work to identify driver who died in fiery crash on Route 8 in Shelton

A 2013 Nissan Rogue went off the road, hit a tree and then caught on fire, state police said.

SHELTON, Conn. — Connecticut State Police are trying to identify who died in a crash on Route 8 north in Shelton overnight Saturday.

Troopers were called to Route 8 north near Exit 14 at 3:41 a.m.

A 2013 Nissan Rogue went off the road, hit a tree and then caught on fire, state police said.

The driver was pronounced dead on scene. State police do not know the identity of the victim at this time.

This crash remains under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed this crash or has information is asked to contact Trooper Daniel McCue #792 at CT State Police Troop I by calling (203) 393-4200 or emailing Daniel.mccue@ct.gov
