BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Thunderstorms moved across the state Friday evening, with little reported damage or power disruption. However the weather did create problems for some folks in Bridgeport.

At 8 p.m. units were dispatched to a structure fire at 80 Lindley Street, which authorities said was caused by a lightning strike.

The first unit on-scene confirmed fire coming from the roof of the three-story multi-family home, but firefighters quickly extinguished the flames.

However, the building was damaged badly enough that the Red Cross will provide shelter for six adults, two children, and two pets, according to fire officials.

No injuries were reported and everyone inside the home got out by the time fire units arrived.

The fire is being investigated by the Fire Marshal’s Office.
