EASTON, Conn. — A Newtown woman died after a deer crashed into her vehicle after it was hit by a pickup truck in Easton earlier this month.
The incident took place on the morning of Nov. 20 on Route 59 in the area of Sherwood Drive when a 2019 Ford pickup truck hit a deer.
Police said the deer was sent airborne from the impact and the animal crashed into a 2015 Honda Pilot. The deer hit the driver – identified by police on Monday as 47-year-old Erin Heneghan, of Newtown – before coming out the rear window.
The deer landed on the southbound shoulder, while the Honda came to rest in a tall grassy area on the southbound shoulder of Route 59.
Heneghan was taken to Bridgeport Hospital where she died of her injuries. She was the only person in the vehicle.
Easton police said the investigation is ongoing. Additional information about the crash was not provided.
