FAIRFIELD, Conn. — On Thursday, Fairfield Police responded to Gould Manor Park after receiving reports of something resembling animal organs.
According to the Fairfield Police Department, there is no threat to the public. Officers said an early investigation has suggested that the items are a part of a Santeria-type ritual. Santeria is also known as Regla de Ocha or the Lucumí religion. It is an Afro-Cuban religion that originated in what is known today as Nigeria and Benin in West Africa.
The individuals who placed the items in the park are unidentified.
The police are encouraging anyone to report any suspicious incidents directly to law enforcement and to use caution when sharing information on social media platforms.
