TRUMBULL, Conn. — A Rhode Island teen died in a rollover crash on Route 25 in Trumbull on Friday night.
Connecticut state police were called to Route 25 South near Exit 9 in Trumbull around 11 p.m. for a report of a crash.
A BMW X5 came up to the back of a BMW X1 and then moved to the right. The BMW X5 sideswiped the BMW X1, which caused the X5 to spin out and roll into many trees, state police said.
Timothy Campbell, an 18-year-old from Cumberland, R.I., died from his injuries, state police said. He was in the back seat and was one of four people in the SUV. The three others in BMW with Rhode Island plates were taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver and passenger in the BMW X1 did not report any injuries, state police said.
The roadway was closed for several hours as investigators processed the scene, and the area has since reopened.
Anyone with information on this crash is asked to call state police at 203-696-2500.
