STAMFORD, Conn. — A Stamford man was arrested for charges connected to a crash in the city that killed a 17-year-old riding a motorcycle this past May.
Hector Rolando Lemus-Portillo, 58, turned himself in to police Friday for charges connected to the crash and the teen's death.
Police were called to a vehicle crash involving a motorcycle on the evening of May 17 at the intersection of Lockwood Avenue and Williams Street.
An investigation determined that Lemus-Portillo was driving south in a Toyota Corolla on Lockwood Avenue and turning left onto Williams Street when he collided into the motorcycle the 17-year-old was driving. Lemus-Portillo stayed on scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
The teen was taken to an area hospital where he later died. Police have not released his identity due to his age.
Lemus-Portillo was charged with negligent homicide with a vehicle and failure to yield while turning left. He posted a $60,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court in November.
