'Suspicious death' investigation underway in Redding

REDDING, Conn. — Connecticut State Police are investigating the "suspicious death" of a Bridgeport woman in Redding, officials said Wednesday.

A jogger on Route 53 called Redding police to report finding a body, and around 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 18, the Western District Major Crimes Squad at Troop A was called to the area to investigate. The body was found in the wooded area off of the road, state police said.

State police identified the deceased woman as Leah Chaparro, 26, of Bridgeport.

An investigation into Chaparro's death is ongoing.

No other details have been made available at this time.
