BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Officers are investigating the "suspicious death" of a woman who was found near a dumpster in Bridgeport on Friday, according to the city's police department.
Police said that they responded around 4:10 p.m. to the area of Stratford Avenue after receiving a report of a Shantise Baker, 37, who was found dead.
Officers who arrived on scene found a female positioned near a dumpster in a parking lot, police said.
The events leading up to the incident are currently unknown.
Police said that the Forensic Identification Unit responded to the scene and that the Bridgeport Police Detective Bureau is leading the investigation.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is working to determine the cause and manner of the woman's death while it is being investigated as a suspicious incident. Police ask anyone with information to contact Detective Keith Hanson at 203-581-5243 or utilize the police tips line at 203-576-TIPS.
