WALLINGFORD, Conn. — A father and son were arrested Tuesday in connection to last week’s Wallingford bank robbery, the Wallingford Police Department reported.
Matthew Kevorkian, 28, and Mark Kevorkian, 68, are facing charges including conspiracy to commit larceny in the fourth degree, fourth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit robbery in the second degree and second-degree robbery, police said.
Around 12:25 p.m. on March 27, 2024, police responded to TD Bank on North Colony Road for a reported bank robbery that had just occurred. Police added that the suspect fled the scene in a dark colored, four-door Honda Civic.
Staff at the bank told the police that a male suspect passed a note to the bank teller demanding cash before leaving the bank and entering the Civic. Police said that bank staff reported the suspect fled the scene with an undetermined amount of cash and that no weapon was used during the theft.
Officers responded to the area immediately, police said, noting that their investigation determined another person was in the getaway car.
Not long after the incident, police said that Newington officers discovered the Civic in their town and used stop sticks to try to stop the car, but the suspects fled.
The car was later discovered at JC Penny on the Tolland Turnpike in Manchester, and after working with numerous law enforcement agencies, police said Matthew and Mark Kevorkian were quickly identified as the suspects.
Detectives filed warrants for both individuals and arrested them in New Britain on Tuesday, police said. Matthew Kevorkian was released on a $50,000 surety bond and is due in court on April 16, 2024. Mark Kevorkian is being held on a $50,000 surety bond and will be arraigned on Wednesday.
Wallingford police said their department’s Detective Division conducted the investigation with assistance from the New Britain, Meriden, Manchester, and Newington Police Departments.
