MERIDEN, Conn. — Meriden Fire Department responded to a fire at boutique and spa at 21 Pratt Street just after 7 p.m. Sunday evening.
The fire was in a 2 story "taxpayer" (residences over business) and the fire was heavily involved in the business, according to Chief Morgan.
The building extends to the rear and attaches to Ferrys funeral home and Prentis Printing to the left and an additional occupancy to the right.
Fire officials says several lines were stretched to both the fire floor and the floor above.
The department says that was under control at 8:41 p.m. and that the fire was confined to the boutique and spa business. The chief adds that extensive smoke damage occurred on the second floor.
No civilians were injured, but 1 Middletown firefighter suffered a minor injury and was transported to Middlesex hospital.
Fire officials say that the occupancy is a total loss, and that the Fire Marshal is investigating at this time.
