Glastonbury man charged with attempted murder following domestic stabbing incident

Police said they are investigating the incident as a 'family violence crime'.

GLASTONBURY, Conn. — A Glastonbury man has been charged with attempted murder following a stabbing at home Tuesday night.

Police said the stabbing happened at a home on Sherwood Drive around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.

When they arrived at the home, police said they found an "elderly male victim" in the garage, suffering from multiple stab wounds. Another man, identified as 47-year-old Jason McCormick, was found in another area of the some with self-inflicted knife wounds to his arms, according to police.

Both McCormick and the victim were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries and have since been released.

Police said McCormick has been charged with Attempt to Commit Murder, Assault in the 1st of an Elderly Person, and Threatening in the 2nd.

McCormick is being held on a $500,000 bond and is set to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Thursday.

A lawyer says a Connecticut businessman convicted in what prosecutors called a human trafficking ring that preyed on young men was stabbed Tuesday night in an apparent domestic violence incident.

Attorney Anthony Spinella said Wednesday that his client, Bruce Bemer, was stabbed at his Glastonbury home Tuesday night but has been released from the hospital.

Police charged Bemer's longtime domestic partner, Jason McCormick, with attempted murder. It wasn't clear if McCormick has a lawyer who could respond to the allegations. Bemer was sentenced to 10 years in prison last year but has been free pending his appeal.
