CANTON, Connecticut — Five people were taken to the hospital after a multi-car crash in Canton Saturday night, police said.
Officers closed off Route 44 between Route 167 and Brass Lantern Road around 7:30 p.m. while responding to a 'serious' collision involving two cars.
Two people involved had 'lower extremity' injuries while three were taken to the hospital out of precaution, according to police. None of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening.
The cause of the crash and the current conditions of those injured are unknown.
The regional accident reconstruction team was called to assist with managing the scene.
Route 44 was reopened after the crash later in the evening.
