NEWINGTON, Conn. — Editor's Note: Above video aired on Aug. 15.
Newington students and neighbors turned out Sunday morning to support the family of a classmate who died unexpectedly in August.
A two-mile walk and run was held at Newington High School to honor the memory of 12-year-old Regan Martins.
All money raised from the event is going to Regan's family.
Friends who organized the event remember Regan as a fun, smart and kind girl who loved to sing and dance. She also enjoyed spending time with her family including three sisters and brother.
Regan's friends reflected on their memories of her.
"She was just the sweetest girl ever," Gianna Galante said. "She was always smiling, always happy. I don't think I ever saw her having a bad day. he was always trying to help people. Just doing something good for anyone, anything."
Maya Lecuivre said, "Regan would stop for a minute and say hi and it would make everyone's day. She had such an impact at such a young age so it's really been inspiring."
Local businesses also showed support by donating gift cards and items to be raffled off.
Sunday's Run for Regan raised $9,200.
