Victim in fatal Bloomfield shooting identified; police looking for SUV with South Carolina plates

Timothy Ross, 31, was found shot multiple times in Bloomfield on Monday morning. He was rushed to the hospital and later died from his injuries.

BLOOMFIELD, Connecticut — Police have identified the victim in a fatal shooting in Bloomfield Monday morning police said. They also said they were looking for a vehicle that may be involved. 

Bloomfield schools will have an increased police presence Tuesday following this shooting, officials said. There will also be social workers and counselors available for students and staff at schools.

Officers were called to the intersection of Cottage Grove Road and Bloomfield Avenue just before 9 a.m. on the report of a shooting. The area is by Trinity Health of New England Urgent Care and St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. 

According to officials, when Bloomfield officers got to the scene, they found Timothy Ross, 31, of Bloomfield with multiple gunshot wounds. He was given CPR at the scene and then rushed to Saint Francis Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Ross was a parent to one of the children at a Bloomfield school, officials said.

A manhunt is underway for the suspect, who police said is considered to be "armed and dangerous." No other information was available.

Police released information on a suspect vehicle as well. They said a smaller SUV-type vehicle with South Carolina registration plate JDD 955 is being sought. If anyone sees this vehicle, they should immediately call the local police department or State Police Troop and report the sighting.

The investigation impacted a few local business nearby, the Starbucks located in The Shops at Gillette Ridge plaza was closed for several hours out of an abundance of caution, but reopened just before 1 p.m. The investigation also affected the Trinity Health of New England location and urgent care center in the same plaza. 

A spokesperson for Trinity Health of New England told FOX61 in a statement, "We contacted any potentially impacted patients directly and are rescheduling appointments as needed." 

Bloomfield Avenue was shut down for four hours between Cottage Grove Road and Oak Lane, but has since reopened.
