BLOOMFIELD, Conn. — Bloomfield police arrested two suspects after they allegedly damaged a light pole and a police cruiser following a pursuit Saturday.
Theodore Tobias, 53, is facing "various motor vehicle charges," and Portia Bick, 34, is facing a charge of possession of controlled substance, police said.
On Saturday, Bloomfield police went to the Lowes on Cottage Grove Road after receiving a report of a man and a woman in a white pickup truck preparing to enter the store. Police said they recognized both suspects and the truck from previous larcenies that happened in Newington and Bloomfield.
As officers approached the truck, it took off from the area, leading them on a pursuit, according to police.
Bloomfield officers pursued the truck into Hartford and received assistance from the city's police department to stop it on Route 44 and Irving Street. Police said the truck collided with a light post and sustained front-end damage.
According to police, the truck rolled back and damaged the front right passenger's side of a Bloomfield police cruiser.
No injuries were reported in the incident, police said.
Police arrested Tobias and Bick and seized the truck. The Bloomfield Police Department's Detective Unit is investigating.
