BRISTOL, Conn. — The oldest theme park in the country is in the running for some accolades.
USA Today is holding a poll on the best theme park holiday events in the country and Lake Compounce in Bristol is holding its own against some big names in the biz.
Currently leading the polls in the Old Time Christmas at Silver Dollar City in Missouri, SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration, the Hersheypark Christmas Candylane in Pennsylvania, Christmastime at Santa’s Village in New Hampshire, and Holiday Lights at Kennywood in Pennsylvania.
This year marks the 11th year that the park will be lit up to celebrate the holiday season, with Connecticut’s tallest Christmas tree standing at 100 feet tall taking center stage. In addition to its size, the tree boasts more than 120,000 lights.
“Our team will be rounding out the 2023 season with our 11th annual Holiday Lights,” Doug Demphill, the park’s general manager, said. “As a staple in the New England community, Holiday Lights has provided entertainment and timeless memories for families in and around Connecticut for more than a decade and we are thrilled to bring this tradition back to the park once again.”
