CANTON, Conn. — Collinsville Canoe & Kayak, which operates on the Farmington River, lost 23 weekends due to rainouts in 2023 but, gearing up for Memorial Day Weekend, the early outlook is brighter.
“We’ve had a lot of people coming in and getting on the river and this weekend looks spectacular,” said Sue Warner, the owner of Collinsville Canoe & Kayak, a family business that began more than three decades ago.
“It’s just fun for us to get people back in the door and back out on the water,” she said.
Jon Warner, Sue’s wife and partner at the family-run business said the past week was busy at the store which rents an array of watercrafts.
“People are on bikes, people are on the trails, the water is finally 60 degrees, so it’s time to paddle," Jon Warner said.
Sue Warner added, “people can take out solo kayaks, tandem kayaks, canoes, standup paddleboards and even standup paddleboard yoga classes.”
In the weeks and months ahead, the Warners are hoping they see new faces at their docks and inside their shop.
Jon Warner said, “you can’t beat the views out here with the trees, the wildlife – it’s beautiful.”
Sue Warner noted that seeing "people out having fun is great and we should be busy all the way through Fall at this point.”
