EAST HARTFORD, Conn. — State police are investigating a fatal SUV crash on Route 2 East that happened Wednesday evening.
Troopers responded to Route 2 East near Exit 2 in East Hartford around 9:42 p.m.
A preliminary investigation determined a Chevy Equinox went into the left shoulder, hit and went through the wire rope guardrail, and went down the embankment. The driver was ejected from the SUV during the crash, state police said.
The driver, identified as Curtis Waters, 58, of Hartford, was pronounced dead at the scene.
No other cars were involved in the crash, state police said. It is not clear what led up to the SUV veering off the road.
The crash remains under state police investigation. Anyone who witnessed this crash or has dashcam footage is asked to call state police Trooper Charles Luby at 860-534-1000 or send an email to charles.luby@ct.gov.
