EAST HARTFORD, Conn. — An East Hartford man has died from injuries sustained in a crash involving two tractor-trailers on Interstate 84 West in East Hartford on Thursday evening.
State police were called to the area of Exit 56 on I-84 West around 5:45 p.m.
A tractor-trailer from Texas was in front of a Freightliner M2 in the center lane when a Honda Accord rear-ended the M2. The Honda veered two lanes to the left and then veered back into the center lane before hitting the back of the Texas tractor-trailer.
Both tractor-trailers came to a controlled stop in the center lane, while the Honda had stopped in the left center lane.
The Honda driver, a 21-year-old New York man, had minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital for treatment. The Honda's passenger, identified as Ymar Berrios, 18, of East Hartford, was taken to an area hospital for his injuries where he was pronounced dead.
Both tractor-trailer drivers did not complain of injuries and were not hospitalized, state police said.
This crash remains under state police investigation.
