ENFIELD, Conn. — An 88-year-old Enfield man was killed in a vehicle crash Friday afternoon after state police said his SUV went off one roadway and onto a highway before colliding with a dump truck.
Connecticut State Police responded to the crash around 2:30 p.m. Friday near Exit 46 of Interstate 91 South in Enfield.
State police said William Higgins, 88, was going south on Route 5 when his Toyota RAV4 went off the road, through a grassy area, and onto I-91 South. Higgin's car ended up colliding with a Kenworth T880 dump truck, state police said.
Higgins was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The truck driver was taken to an area hospital for minor injuries.
