BLOOMFIELD, Conn. — One person has died after a house fire in Bloomfield late Sunday evening, according to fire officials.
Bloomfield police were called to the home on Alexander Road around 10:30 p.m. to conduct a welfare check on a 21-year-old man, and arrived to find the home "fully engulfed in flames."
Firefighters responded around 11:15 p.m. Sunday after a neighbor called 911 to report the flames.
The stairwell inside was compromised, which made it difficult for firefighters to get in, officials said.
One person died in the fire, Blue Hills Fire Chief Willie Jones told FOX61. Town police identified the victim Thursday as Jermaine Armstrong Jr., 20, of Bloomfield.
It is not clear how many people lived at the home and were displaced.
There were no firefighters injured.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
This is a developing story. FOX61 has a crew on the scene and will update this story as more information comes in.
