5 hospitalized after Hartford multi-car crash: District fire chief

The two cars involved collided head-on, according to police. Five adults were taken to the hospital with critical injuries.

HARTFORD, Conn. — Five people were hospitalized after a multi-car crash in Hartford early Saturday morning, district chief for the city's fire department Mario Oquendo Jr. said.

A fire crew responded at 2:05 a.m. to a report of a crash on Franklin Avenue where they found a woman trapped in one of the two cars involved, Oquendo said. She was removed within six minutes and taken to the hospital.

The two cars involved collided head-on, according to police.

Five adults, including the woman who had to be extricated, were taken to the hospital for evaluation. All were critically injured, but their current conditions are unknown at this time, police said.

Hartford police responded and is leading the investigation. Police have not released further information about what led to the wreck.
