HARTFORD, Conn. — Officials released a new video Wednesday of an exchange of gunfire that left one man dead earlier in the week.
Jamie Grant, 44, was killed by an officer on Westland Street.
Investigators from the Office of the Inspector General said an officer was on routine patrol and attempted to stop a grey-colored four-door Honda Accord with Florida plates, near the intersection with Barbour Street.
On Monday, it was reported that Hartford police had received a dispatch call about a car with an armed person threatening others.
As soon as the vehicle came to a stop, Grant got out of the passenger door and walked to the rear of the vehicle. The officer also got out of his police vehicle. As he approached the Honda, it took off, leaving Grant holding what appeared to be a firearm in his left hand.
Grant can be seen raising his arm in the direction of the officer who fired multiple times, hitting Grant. Grant fell in the middle of the intersection of Westland Street and Barbour Street.
