Hartford double shooting victim identified as 18-year-old Manchester man

Hartford police are investigating a double shooting that left at least one person dead Tuesday afternoon.

The two victims were shot on the 600 block of Broad Street, near Russ Street, Hartford police said.

Both of them went to Hartford Hospital, where one of the victims died, police said. Neither of the gunshot victims has been identified at this time.

The deceased victim was later identified as 18-year-old Ernesto Morales of Manchester. The second male was listed in stable condition but has not been identified.

Police said they were not aware of any 911 calls. They responded to a ShotSpotter. 

While police were at the scene, they found shell castings and got notified that two people with gunshot wounds were taken to a local hospital.

This appears to be a targeted crime, according to police. 

This is the 28th homicide in Hartford of 2022.
