HARTFORD, Conn. — Hartford this week is giving individuals and families the opportunity to get on the waitlist for the city's Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher.
From 9 a.m. Tuesday until Friday at 4:30 p.m., the window to apply to join the waitlist will open. Those interested can fill out the online pre-application form here. Paper applications are also available at the Hartford Public Library and the Housing Authority at 180 John D. Wardlaw Way.
The applications will then go into a lottery, and those selected will go into one of the 3,000 open waiting list spots.
"We open the waitlist periodically so that those in need of housing can have the opportunity to enter the lottery for available units," said Annette Sanderson, executive director of the Housing Authority of the City of Harford.
An individual or family member with disabilities who would require a policy accommodation is asked to call the Housing Authority at 860-723-8493 (TRS 711 or 800-842-9710).
