HARTFORD, Conn. — A Hartford man was arrested on Thursday and charged with first-degree possession of child pornography, according to a release from Hartford police.
Alberto Marrero, 59, allegedly was in possession of 264 videos and images depicting child porn, police said.
Police said that detectives from the Special Investigations Division, with help from the Homeland Security Investigations Internet Crimes Against Children’s Task Force, conducted a child pornography investigation involving Marrero.
After obtaining a warrant to search Marrero’s residence on New Britain Avenue, police said they seized various electronic devices, which contained explicit videos and images.
According to police, the investigation produced enough probable cause to charge Marrero, and on Thursday morning, his arrest warrant for the felony charge was approved by a Superior Court judge.
Later that day, SID Detectives placed Marrero into custody without incident, police said.
Marrero was taken to the Detention Division and was processed, charged and held on a $500,000.
