HARTFORD, Conn — Hartford police are investigating the suspicious death of an unidentified woman who was discovered in an apartment Monday morning.
Police officers were called to 256 Mather Street around 10:44 a.m. after a report that a body had been found inside an apartment there. When they arrived, the officers located the body of a woman, who appeared to have been dead for several days, according to police.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner was called to the scene and will investigate to determine the cause of death. Additional information - including the victim's identity - was not immediately available.
The Hartford Police Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions responded and assumed the investigation.
The scene is close to the Wish Elementary School.
