Man dies after shooting from passing vehicle in Hartford, police say

The Hartford Police Major Crimes Division is investigating, police said.

HARTFORD, Conn. — A man died after a shooting from a passing vehicle in Hartford Friday night, according to the city's police department Sunday.

At 11:42 p.m. Friday, police said they went to the area of 180 Seymour St. after receiving a ShotSpotter notification.

Arriving officers found an unresponsive man suffering from a gunshot wound, according to police. Responders brought him to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police identified the man Sunday as Joshua Ortega, 39.

Investigators learned that the shots fired came from a vehicle that passed by, police said.

The Hartford Police Major Crimes Division is investigating.
