HARTFORD, Conn — A man was killed in a crash on the Charter Oak Bridge Southbound in Hartford overnight Tuesday when a tractor-trailer collided with his car.
According to state police, Douglas Arotsky, 77, of New York, was traveling in a Toyota RAV4 having just traveled over the Charter Oak Bridge in the area where it merges with I-91 in the right lane of the highway, when he veered across the Exit 86 gore and collided with the end of the guardrail
Arotsky's car then entered the right lane for Exit 86 and collided with the tractor-trailer, state police said.
The tractor-trailer came to a stop in the travel lane and right shoulder of the Exit 86 off-ramp. Arotsky's car came to an uncontrolled rest in the travel lane of Exit 86 off-ramp directly in front of the tractor-trailer.
Arotsky was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
