HARTFORD, Conn. — Hartford Public Schools launched the “All Voices, Our Future” initiative earlier this week.
The district says the strategic planning process will engage the community and create a comprehensive 10-year vision and three-year strategic plan to prepare Hartford students for the future.
The process will consist of surveys, focus groups and community discussions. The district hopes to gather ideas and insights from students, family members, educators, local business owners, community organizations, union representatives, local leaders and other members of the city’s community.
In a release, Superintendent Dr. Leslie Torres-Rodriguez says that charting a course to prepare every student in the district in a world that is constantly changing requires bold and innovative thinking.
“To design the public-school experiences each of our young people need to thrive, we are eager to tap into the wisdom and experiences across our diverse, beautiful community,” Torres-Rodriguez said. “We ask every member of our community to participate in this effort to shape a vision and plan for our future schools.”
Torres-Rodriguez emphasized that “our young people today and years from now are counting on us.”
All members of the community will be asked to share their ideas for “All Voices, Our Future” during the fall and winter. They can participate in several ways.
It takes about five minutes to fill out the “All Voices, Our Future” survey. Access to the survey and more information regarding its purpose can be found here. Details on the many community conversations scheduled to occur in the coming weeks can also be found at that link.
More information about the strategic planning process can be found on the district’s website.
According to the district, Hartford Public Schools serves over 16,500 PreK-12 students from Hartford and close to 70 surrounding towns. With 39 schools, including 18 magnet schools, the district is one of the largest in the state.
