These are the winners of the Eversource Hartford Marathon

About 8,000 runners descended into downtown Hartford on Saturday morning for the marathon.

HARTFORD, Conn. — A Connecticut native has booked his tickets for the Olympic trials next year after crossing first at the Eversource Hartford Marathon on Saturday morning.

This is the second time Alex Norstrom, 27, of Glastonbury, has crossed the finish line in downtown Hartford in first place. He won the race in 2021.

On Saturday, Norstrom ran a personal best of 2:16:53, which was more than one minute under the Olympic trials qualifying time of 2:18:00.

Kiplangat Terer, of Amherst, Massachusetts, and Spencer Bossi-Johnson, of San Diego, California, came in second and third, respectively.

In the women’s race, 30-year-old Jenna Gigliotti, of Amherst, Massachusetts, came in first with a time of 2:44:08. She had been in second place in the last two years.

Jaclyn Solimine, of Derry, New Hampshire, and Olivia Mondo, of Manchester, came in second and third, respectively.

About 8,000 runners descended into downtown Hartford on Saturday morning for the marathon, which also included a half marathon, 5K, and marathon relay.

Ethan Hermann, 23, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, won the men’s half marathon – also with a personal best of 1:04:52. According to the Hartford Courant, Hermann had COVID-19 two weeks ago and wasn’t sure if he would race.

Liam Dee, of Brooklyn, New York. and Peter Borger, of Malvern, Pennsylvania, came in second and third in the half marathon.

Regan Rome, of Providence, Rhode Island, won the women’s half with a time of 1:13:49. Last year, she finished second. Rome is also headed to the Olympic marathon trials in Orlando, Florida in February after qualifying with a 2:36 at the California International Marathon last year.

West Hartford native, 19-year-old Amruth Nirajan won the 5K men’s race. Kaitlyn Steves, of New Britain, won the women’s race.

In the wheelchair race, Stephan Gulley, of Bellingham, Massachusetts, came in first place in the men’s race, while Helen Newman, of North Granby, was first in the women’s race.
