MANCHESTER, Conn — Fifteen people were displaced and a dog was rescued after a second-alarm fire at an apartment building in Manchester on Friday night.
Manchester firefighters were called around 10:20 p.m. to a two-story apartment building on Imperial Drive, part of the Squire Village complex off of Spencer Street.
Everyone evacuated the building before firefighters arrived, and firefighters rescued one dog.
Fire was coming out of both ends of the building and broke through the roof, firefighters said. Crews opened the roof and sprayed water in the opening to bring the fire under control.
The Red Cross is assisting the 15 displaced residents as the building is not in a habitable condition. There were 16 units in the building.
East Hartford firefighters also responded to assist.
The fire marshal's investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
