HARTFORD, Conn — After nearly four years, a Springfield, Mass. man has been found guilty of murdering two Massachusetts residents in a Manchester commuter lot on Aug. 2, 2020.
A Superior Court found Gregory Crichlow, 24, guilty of gunning down Gregory Scott, Jr., 24, and Jennifer Hicks, 20, in their vehicle following a large gathering.
Crichlow was arrested in November 2020 and was found guilty of two counts of murder and one count of murder with special circumstances. Prosecutors said the shooting resulted from a conflict between two gang members, as Crichlow and Scott were in two different gangs with a history of violence.
Police said that early in the morning of Aug. 2, 2020, Scott, Hicks and a third person drove to the commuter lot off Interstate 84 to attend a “car meetup” and race that began in Springfield and ended in Manchester. Police said between 100-200 people were on scene at the time of the shooting around 2 a.m.
Witnesses described a 2016 black Dodge Ram 1500 that parked next to the Jeep Scott was driving, police said. A man, later identified as Crichlow, exited the truck, approached the Jeep and shot both victims. Scott and Hicks later died from their injuries.
Police used photos of the Dodge Ram parked at a Pride station near the MGM Casino in Springfield to help identify Crichlow, who did not own the truck.
