According to witnesses at the scene, one man was asked to leave the Dunkin' when a heated argument ensued that resulted in a stabbing. Police said surveillance video showed that the stabbing happened as a result of self-defense actions.

Elijah Madera, 19, was seen on video punching and violently attacking the victim who was unable to retreat.

"There was no indication that the victim utilized the knife in any other manner other than to defend himself. Even after the initial scuffle [the suspect] continued the altercation, throwing electronic items owned by the victim and again punching him," said police in a press release.

Madera was charged with assault and criminal mischief. He was released on a $50,000 non-surety bond.
