MANCHESTER, Conn. — A teacher at Illing Middle School in Manchester was arrested Tuesday following complaints from students that he touched them and made comments inappropriately, the town's police department said.
Floyd Gray, 58, of Hartford, turned himself in to police and is facing charges of three counts of breach of peace in the second degree and three counts of risk of injury to a minor.
Police said that an investigation was opened after three students reported in February that Gray had touched them in an inappropriate way and made comments that were inappropriate while in class.
The students, who said they were not in the same classes as each other, all claimed they had Gray as their teacher and "reported similar incidents," police said.
One student directly told Gray to stop touching her shoulders during class; he stopped for a week before it happened again, according to the arrest warrant.
He is currently on administrative leave.
The investigation into the complaints was led by Manchester police, the Manchester Public Schools Administration and the Connecticut Department of Children and Families, according to police.
Police are asking anyone with further information to contact their department, which can be reached via phone at 860-645-5500.
