NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — A 13-year-old was arrested in connection to making social media threats targeting a New Britain middle school, according to the city mayor's office.
Staff at Pulaski Middle School called police Tuesday regarding a threat involving a group of middle school students after school staff got screenshots of threatening messages made on social media.
A 13-year-old boy was found responsible for the threats and was issued a juvenile summons. He was charged with threatening and breach of peace, city officials said.
"Here in New Britain there is no joking around when it comes to the safety of our students, staff, and families," said Mayor Erin Stewart. "Our community needs to trust that our schools are a safe space for all who enter them, so we take any threat to that incredibly seriously. Rest assured, the City, Police Department and School District remain fiercely united against anyone or anything that threatens the well-being of those in our schools."
There is no threat to the public.
