NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — A New Haven man is dead after his car crashed on Route 9 in New Britain, state police said.
The crash happened around 3:15 p.m. Monday on the northbound side, just before the split for Route 72. The car, an Infiniti Q50 Luxe, was driven by 21-year-old Anthony Montminy in the center lane of three.
According to officials, for an unknown reason, Montminy veered into the left lane, into the left shoulder, and then entered the grassy median between the north and southbound lanes.
From there, Montminy collided with a concrete sign support, and the Infiniti finally stopped in the grass.
Police said Montminy was critically injured in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders.
The car was towed from the scene due to the damage, and the crash remains under investigation.
State police ask anyone who may have seen the crash to contact Tropper Michael Dean at Troop H at 860-534-1098 or through email at michael.dean@ct.gov. They also ask if you have a dashcam and were driving through the area at the time of the crash to contact Trooper Dean.
