SIMSBURY, Conn. — Trees falling on homes, planes without an engine flying through the sky - that is just some of what Simsbury saw during the wind and rainstorms Friday afternoon.
"Wildest thing I’ve ever seen in my life," said Michael Held.
As rain and wind hit the town hard, Held noted, “Things were flying around everywhere; a tree went and hit my wife’s car (and) a tree went on someone's house down the road”.
Trees were completely uprooted. Some were tossed along power lines, but cleanup was already underway just hours after this fast-moving storm.
Just down the road, the Simsbury Airport had planes flying without a pilot. Several small planes were impacted. Clean-up was underway at the airport as well Friday evening.
Unfortunately for one plane, it was thrown hundreds of feet across the grass, causing thousands of dollars’ worth of damage. Another plane was tossed over a hanger and slid down the other side. A total of three planes were damaged in the wind and rain.
The Simsbury Fire Department was on scene and told FOX61 that thankfully no one was hurt.
