SOUTHINGTON, Conn. — Five teens were arrested after shoplifting and using a stolen car in Southington, the town's police department said Thursday.
The teens are aged 15-17 years old, according to police. One teen was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and larceny in the third degree, four with larceny in the sixth degree, one with interfering with an officer and all five with conspiracy to commit larceny in the sixth degree.
According to police, officers were called to the CVS on Main Street at 12:48 a.m. on June 17 after a report that four males wearing masks had shoplifted items from the store.
The males were also reported to have taken off from the scene using a white Nissan sedan and headed north on Main Street, according to police.
The Nissan was later found by police parked at the Exxon Gas Station on Queen Street with five teens inside. Police said they were detained and later arrested after investigators determined that the vehicle was stolen out of Bridgeport on June 16 and reviewed footage of the shoplifting incident.
All teens were released to their guardians and appeared at Bridgeport Juvenile Court on June 21, police said.
