Video shows Amazon delivery driver taking money from Southington farm stand

A Southington homeowner's Ring camera captured an Amazon delivery driver take money from her farm stand after delivering a package.

SOUTHINGTON, Conn. — A Southington homeowner's Ring camera captured an Amazon delivery driver taking money from her farm stand after dropping off a package to her home Sunday, leaving her feeling uneasy.

“I saw the footage of him clearly taking the money out of the jar,” resident Mary Bouchard said. “There was no other reason for him to touch that jar whatsoever. Most Amazon drivers come up and they throw the package on the front porch, it hits the door, it hits the ground and they’re out of here.”

Bouchard said she left $10 at the farm stand, which is now gone. She often leaves money on the stand so neighbors can make change if needed.

She sells eggs and other fresh produce to her neighbors, friends and family.

“Anytime there’s eggs out there I put the change in the jar so that you know my family and friends can come as they please and pick up the eggs, so they don’t have to worry about exact change or having the money,” she said. “It’s just there if they need it and I put it out when I know someone’s coming.”

The driver is currently not facing any criminal charges.

Mobashar Akran's company, Nutmeg Courier, works with Amazon as a sub-contractor.

Akran said he filed a report with Southington police and didn’t give the driver's name to the officer but is working with them.

He also said that driver has been let go, but not before he and the former driver showed up to Bouchard’s house to give the driver’s side of the story.

“He [Akran] requested to stop by earlier today and I said, 'that’s fine, just let me know before when you're coming,' and he did,” Bouchard said. "He showed up and he ended bringing the driver that stole the money back with him without my consent.”

Bouchard said it’s scary that he was brought back to her home and now knows what she looks like.

She said she cannot do anything because she doesn’t have his name.

Since the former driver was fired, she’s worried he may retaliate and want to press charges and file to get a restraining order.
