PLAINVILLE, Conn — Super Bowl week is truly their Super Bowl at J. Timothys’ Taverne and 2024 is no exception.
This time of year, it’s about J. Timothy’s highly rated chicken wings which bring people from across the state to stock up for their Super Bowl parties. Manager Rino Ouellet laughed, “We’re talking about 75 to 80 thousand wings going out, that’s a lot of flightless birds.” General Manager Greg Gardner added, “We’re talking about 12 tons of chicken wings and a ton is two thousand pounds.”
Ouellet, who has been with J. Timothy’s for 32 years, noted that takeout orders, which are all done by phone, sold out in record time this year.
He added that dining-in options are available for Super Bowl weekend. “We plan for this going back to Thanksgiving,” said Ouellet. By far the league leader when it comes to sales are the J. Timothy’s Buffalo Wings in “Dirt Style” (double sauced, and double fried),
“It’s literally 75 percent our wings (sales),” said Ouelett. Gardner, the general manager who has been with J. Timothy’s for over four decades said, “It’s really a pleasure to see this and how its evolved over the years,” he then added, “our holiday season doesn’t end until the Super Bowl is over.”
