BLOOMFIELD, Conn. — The suspect in last month's shooting death in Bloomfield is being brought to Connecticut from Arizona and is expected to be arraigned on Friday.
On Dec. 12, Bloomfield police obtained an arrest warrant for Devante Swaby, 29, of Peoria Arizona, the suspect in a shooting incident in which Bloomfield resident Timothy Ross, 31, of Bloomfield, was killed. He was located in Arizona where he was being held as a fugitive from justice.
On Dec. 4, police were called to the intersection of Cottage Grove Road and Bloomfield Avenue just before 9 a.m. on the report of a shooting. The area is by Trinity Health of New England Urgent Care and St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.
According to officials, when Bloomfield officers got to the scene, they found Ross with multiple gunshot wounds. He was given CPR at the scene and then rushed to Saint Francis Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Ross was a parent to one of the children at a Bloomfield school, officials said.
Upon being returned to Bloomfield Swaby will be charged with Murder, Criminal Use of a Weapon, Carrying a Pistol Without a Permit, Possession of an Assault Weapon, and Weapons in a Motor Vehicle.
Swaby is scheduled to be arraigned at Hartford Superior Court on Friday.
