SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. — Twenty years after first welcoming customers, the Shops at Evergreen Walk in South Windsor continues to thrive as one of the region’s premiere, pedestrian-friendly lifestyle shopping centers.
In recognition of the anniversary, the Shops at Evergreen Walk is dedicating this Friday and Saturday to celebrating. On Oct. 25 and 26, there will be community events such as live music, giveaways, fall-themed activities, a drone show and more.
Since opening in October 2004 as a state-of-the-art shopping complex, the location has served as a community center with established shopping and dining options. It also features public art installations, a green and has hosted many memorable events.
In recent months, there have been notable additions to the property, including Shake Shack, Golf Lounge 18, La-Z-Boy and Whole Foods.
The festivities on Friday and Saturday will reflect the property’s history in the community and look forward to developments that are on the way.
Brand Street Properties, in Greenwich, has redeveloped the center, leading to the addition of 14 new tenants over the past 18 months. The complex has received a new name, website, logo, signage, outdoor enhancements and retailer mix.
Brand Street Properties Principal Paul Brandes said he is proud that the Shops at Evergreen Walk has become a go-to shopping destination locally over the past two decades. He and his team look forward to further elevating the center and bringing in new additions for years to come.
“Our entire team is thrilled to celebrate the 20th anniversary by bringing our loyal guests a weekend full of truly memorable experiences to enjoy as a thank you of their 20 years of patronage,” Brandes said.
On Friday from 6-8 p.m., the anniversary celebration will kick off with live music on the green, as well as appearances from local news media. There will also be fun games, shopping discounts, food and drink sampling and more. Additionally, the center’s first-ever dazzling drone show will begin at 7:45 p.m.
The activities resume on Saturday from 2-6 p.m. as the complex hosts its Fall Fest. There will be fall treats, horse and wagon rides, a pumpkin patch, pumpkin decorating, shopping discounts, kids’ activities and a mini petting zoo. Other surprises are expected as well.
Guests who spend more than $200 on Saturday will receive a free Whole Foods Market gift card, while supplies last.
