WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — Two suspects accused of burglarizing a West Hartford liquor store of thousands of dollars worth of high-end liquor in late August have been arrested, according to local police.
Steven Perales-Gonzalez, 21, and Josue Leon-Ortiz, 24, both of Hartford, are accused of breaking into the Cheers Wine and Spirits on 772 Farmington Ave. in West Hartford in the early morning hours of Aug. 29 and stealing thousands of dollars of liquor.
Just after 4 a.m. that morning, police responded to Cheers to find the glass of the front door shattered, no one inside and liquor stolen from the business. Police obtained surveillance footage of the incident, giving them suspects and a vehicle to look for.
West Hartford police later found out that Hartford police interacted later that morning with a vehicle similar to the one used in the burglary. The vehicle had dozens of unopened liquor bottles inside, police said.
Perales-Gonzalez was arrested Sept. 27 and Leon-Ortiz was arrested Oct. 8. Both face burglary, larceny and criminal mischief charges. Both posted their $15,000 bond and are scheduled to appear in court.
