John Morales, 23, of Hartford, was charged with interfering with an officer, second-degree larceny of a motor vehicle, second-degree larceny and engaging in pursuit, according to the West Hartford Police Department.
Police said the Hartford owner of a white Infinity G37 reported the car stolen, and the vehicle was spotted traveling south in West Hartford along New Park Avenue near Jefferson Avenue at approximately 8:51 a.m. Thursday morning.
West Hartford police attempted to stop the vehicle on Newington Road, but the operator failed to comply when signaled to do so, police said, adding that an officer successfully deployed a tire deflation device on the road near Sampson Street.
Officers did not pursue the vehicle, which was last seen traveling south on Newington Road towards Newington. After canvassing the area where the vehicle was last seen, officers located it near the intersection of Willard Avenue and West Hill Road in Newington, police said.
West Hartford police found the two occupants who fled from the vehicle and apprehended both after a brief chase, police said. Each occupant was charged separately and held on a $250,000 surety bond pending arraignment at Hartford Superior Court G.A. 14.
