WEST HARTFORD, Conn. — A woman was arrested on Thursday for allegedly yelling anti-Semitic and racist remarks inside and outside of the Mandell Jewish Community Center of Greater Hartford in West Hartford, police said.
Beth Rosenberg, 42, of West Hartford, faces over a dozen charges. West Hartford police said she had previously been issued a criminal trespass warning for the JCC property after a prior arrest.
Police said they initially responded to the JCC at 335 Bloomfield Avenue around 2:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a woman yelling inappropriate remarks and discovered Rosenberg in a moving vehicle at the New England Jewish Academy, located at 300 Bloomfield Avenue.
Rosenberg allegedly failed to stop when signaled to do so by responding officers; she was located driving on two additional occasions that afternoon but again failed to stop for officers when signaled to do so, police said.
Around 5:14 p.m., Rosenberg was found in her vehicle in the parking lot of the West Hartford United Methodist Church on New Britain Avenue, police said, noting that additional officers responded to the scene, forcibly removed her from the vehicle and took her into custody. No injuries were sustained in the incident, according to police.
Rosenberg was arrested and held on a $50,000 surety bond, pending arraignment at G.A. 14 in Hartford. While in custody, she was later transported to an area hospital based on an emergency committal completed by Mobile Crisis, police said.
Following the incident, Rosenberg was charged with second-degree breach of peace, first-degree criminal trespass, second-degree violation conditions of release, third-degree intimidation by bias or bigotry, two counts of second-degree reckless endangerment, two counts of failure to drive in the proper lane, two counts of reckless driving, three counts of interfering with officer/resisting, and three counts of engaging police in pursuit, West Hartford police said.
