WETHERSFIELD, Conn — A former Glastonbury and New Britain police officer is facing more charges, this time for a break and theft from a Wethersfield store in February.
Patrick Hemingway, 37, was charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, Larceny 6th Degree, and Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, in connections to the break-in at the Old Wethersfield Country Store on February 10. The cash register drawer, which contained $200.00 in cash, was stolen in the incident.
Old Saybrook police said Hemingway was also charged with a burglary there. He was charged with 3rd Degree Burglary, for an incident at the Old Saybrook Pizza Place on May 8. His bond set at $12,000 and he will be arraigned Thursday.
Hemingway was processed and has a court date of November 17, at New Britain Superior Court.
Hemingway is accused of being a “serial burglar” who is accused of more than 30 burglaries in three states, a newly released arrest warrant showed.
The Connecticut Superior Court warrant unsealed in October that alleges he targeted safes and cash registers at multiple businesses in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts to steal money.
All the burglaries happened while Hemingway was an officer with the Glastonbury Police Department, the warrant alleges. He resigned from the police department on Sept. 1, 2023.
Investigators with the Wethersfield and Glastonbury police departments and state police are still working to determine the scope of the alleged burglaries. They said in the arrest warrant that the alleged burglaries occurred between February 2023 and June 2023.
